  1. Single Adults: 121,082 (up 473% vs. 2020)

  2. Unaccompanied Alien Children/Single Children: 14,158 (up 1,305% vs. 2020)

  3. Family Unit Aliens: 44,639 (up 4,143% vs. 2020)

In May, U.S. Customs and Border Protection encountered 180,034 individuals attempting to enter the country illegally, up 675% from May of 2020. According to CBP, the number of “family unit aliens” was 44,639. This is the number of parents or legal guardians and children travelling together.
