Gas Prices Up 100% Under Biden

Just as the summer vacation season heats up, the average cost for a gallon of gasoline has doubled since President Biden’s inauguration. As of June 6, the national average cost for a gallon of gasoline was $4.88, an increase of more than 100% from the week Joe Biden took office, when it was $2.39 per gallon.

Double Jeopardy

Gas prices have climbed steadily since January 2021, thanks to President Biden’s anti-American-energy agenda. The president started by canceling the Keystone XL pipeline and banning new oil and gas leases. He didn’t stop there – more recently, he’s called for new fees on domestic energy producers and his Interior Department announced it would raise royalty rates for onshore leases and shrink acreage available for leasing by 80%.

Democrats are responding to high prices not by trying to increase the supply of domestic energy resources, but by pushing to shift to renewable energy and electric vehicles. Last month, when asked about soaring gas prices, President Biden said, “we’re going through an incredible transition” and that after it’s done “the world will be stronger and less reliant on fossil fuels.” The left’s radical policies are intended to stifle fossil fuels. Under their plans, high prices are here to stay.
