September 15 – Final cooling-off period in freight rail labor dispute ends. If no resolution is reached and Congress does not act, a strike or lockout is allowed. September 21 – Federal Reserve’s Federal Open Market Committee announces monetary policy updates. September 28 – White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health. September 30 – Last day of fiscal year 2022. Authorizations expire for several programs:

October 1 – First day of fiscal year 2023, by which time Congress should have completed action on all 12 appropriations bills for the new fiscal year. October 3 – Supreme Court term begins. October 13 – COVID-19 public health emergency declaration expires.
