Border Security Status Report
- President Trump has built 126 miles of border wall since January 2017. The administration has received appropriations and identified authority to build 627 additional miles of border wall.
- Monthly border apprehensions in January were down significantly from the record numbers last summer but remain well above 2017 levels.
- Border Patrol estimates 140,000 migrants crossed our southern border illegally and evaded apprehension in 2019.
Construction at our southern border is accelerating, with the Trump administration building 40 miles of border wall in the last four months. The monthly number of migrants caught has decreased significantly since the record levels last summer. However, the number of estimated migrants evading capture and illegally crossing into the U.S. remains elevated.
