In April, U.S. Customs and Border Protection encountered 178,622 individuals attempting to enter the country illegally, up 3% from March and up 944% from April of 2020. According to CBP, the number of “family unit aliens” was 50,016. This is the number of parents or legal guardians and children travelling together.
