Working Again for the American People

  • Senate Republicans are making good on their promise to govern in a responsible, bipartisan way.

  • In just 27 days, the Senate has had votes on 25 amendments, more than all of last year.

  • Under Republican leadership, two Senate Democrats have finally had a chance to have their amendments considered.

Under the leadership of Republicans, the Senate is working in a bipartisan way to hear all ideas.

Last year, Senate Democrats lamented coming to work in a Senate that didn’t work. This month alone, two Democrats – Senators Schatz and Markey – experienced something they had never been able to do before: receive consideration by the Senate of one of their amendments. Senator Warren also got a roll call vote on one of her amendments for the first time.

The American people deserve a Senate that allows consideration of the ideas of its members. One month into the new Congress, it is clear that Senate Republicans are making good on their promise to govern in a responsible, bipartisan way.
